Toopy and Binoo with a side of Barbie

This past weekend was a busy one but we managed to mix it all in and think we got a good balance of the kids and adults having fun. A combination of Toopy and Binoo followed by wine club for us adults and an entire day of Barbie was what our weekend was all about.

Toopy and Binoo Fun and GamesSaturday saw us at the Toopy and Binoo Fun and Games show. These were part of Little Monkey’s birthday celebrations and it’s her latest obsession. Honestly I don’t understand these characters and their shenanigans but I must admit that they make her happy. I’m a huge fan of taking little ones to the Sony Centre for performances so this time Little Monkey and I attended the show with my sister in law and my nephew. The show started at 4 p.m. and we had a 20 minute break at 4:40 p.m. By the time everything ended it was 5:30 and I honestly think the  break was unnecessary. That said I’m sure quite a few kids need a potty break. Toopy and Binoo sang and danced their way throughout the show in search of the best game ever. Kids played hide and seek and Little Monkey had a blast dancing and jumping up and down.

IMG_20141108_155716 (Custom)As always my tips are still valid : Get there twenty minutes before the show and grab a booster seat before they run out of them. Stroller parking is available but you can no longer place adults’ jackets in the stroller, only the kids’ones. Also you can now bring in babes in arms without a tickets. It’s a new rule they’ve implemented, which means kids under 1 year of age no longer need a ticket.

The Toopy and Binoo : Fun and Games tour continues around Canada into December and whilst it may drive the parents crazy, these two entertain the kids and encourage them to eat broccoli! Yes  I finally realized why Little Monkey has been asking for broccoli lately! Pretty good win! On a side note…my best selfie to date was taken at the show. Man I love the selfie option on the LG G3 (don’t forget you can win one too!).

As usual, right after the show we rushed home to set up for wine club which went into the wee hours of the morning. A morning that was supposed to see us at a Barbie event. That wasn’t smart planning! The hubs and I were hurting as we rolled up to a VIP viewing of Barbie and the Secret Door. We weren’t sure what to expect and the hubs had some afternoon plans so we thought we’d watch the movie and head out. Well guess what? I spent the entire morning and afternoon there!

10808217_608706982574694_1800254498_n (Custom)We won a contest hosted by Canadian Family and that’s how we scored the invite to this exclusive event. A friend of ours had also won tickets so Little Monkey and Baby Boy each had a friend along for the day. We watched the 90 minute movie and surprisingly Baby Boy did much better than I expected. He missed his naps and milk bottle because I forgot it in the AVENT bottle warmer.. yup, left it on all day long and didn’t burn down the house! The movie was entertaining and the songs are catchy, so much so that I still have the ”magic… maaaagic” in my head twelve hours later.

Barbie and the Secret DoorOur day was spent decorating cookies, dancing, singing and playing with the latest Barbie and the Secret Door toy line. I know what’s going to be on the Little Monkey’s holiday wishlist! Little Monkey would watch the group activities from a foot away but wouldn’t dare fully participate and then turned out to be the only kid who cried at a Barbie event. Go figure! Baby Boy was happy as ever despite being extremely tired and for the first time in ages actually fell asleep in the Bjorn. Good prep for our upcoming Belgian travels where I don’t plan to take our stroller. I guess I’m going to have to purchase the Barbie and the Secret Door DVD now and be forced to listen to the songs non stop. Watch out Elsa, there’s a new Princess in town.

Haha, I don’t think anyone could replace Elsa in my kids imaginations, but I bet they’d enjoy the Barbie movie too.
    Your selfie is great.
